Major Seat Matrix Changes Ahead of Round 2

Significant modifications have been made to the NEET PG 2025 seat availability, directly influencing the Round 2 allotment:

  • 239 PG seats have been added by the National Medical Commission (NMC) across several deemed universities for the upcoming academic year.
  • 235 DNB seats have been removed, including 186 from government hospitals and 49 from private institutions, following a notice issued by the National Board of Examinations (NBE).
  • Round 2 will be based on this updated seat matrix, meaning the new MD/MS and deemed university seat availability will be reflected in the upcoming allotment list.

These adjustments aim to ensure accurate seat distribution and a more streamlined counselling experience for candidates.

What Candidates Should Focus On

Aspirants are therefore advised to focus on the following with the updated counselling dates:

  • Timely Registration: You must start registering once the portal opens on December 5. Any late registration will not be accepted at any circumstances.
  • Accurate Choice Filling: From December 6, the candidates are to list their desired colleges and courses. Taking into consideration the fact that choice locking is mandatory, it is important to ensure that the choices are checked twice by the applicants before final submission.
  • Document Preparation: Have the necessary documents, including NEET PG scorecard, MBBS certificates, internship completion proof, identity documents, and category certificates prepared to be uploaded and verified.
  • Result Tracking: The Round 2 allotment list will be released on December 12. Students who are selected should download the allotment letter immediately and proceed with the admission process.
  • Reporting on Time: Those allotted seats have to report to their colleges within the period of 13 to 21 December. Failure to report within the reporting window can result in the cancellation of seats.

What This Means for NEET PG Aspirants

The new schedule will improve the goal of MCC to have a systematic and error-free counselling process. More than a lakh candidates will be competing to secure fewer seats, and any slight variation in schedules will have massive effects on the contest. The new dates also allow the candidates more time to review strategies and optimize choice lists regarding the most up-to-date seat availability.

To most applicants who are seeking to enter into the best clinical specialty or leading institutes, Round 2 is a crucial chance, particularly to those who failed to achieve their expectations of Round 1 or those who never had the opportunity to take part in Round 1.
