NEET PG 2025: Qualifying Cut-off Reduced for Third Counselling Round

NEET PG 2025: Qualifying Cut-off Reduced for Third Counselling Round

The minimum qualifying percentile for NEET PG 2025 has been reduced, increasing the number of candidates eligible to participate in the third round of counselling for the academic session 2025-26, officials said.

The NEET PG 2025 result was declared on 19 August 2025. Following a review of the counselling process, the qualifying criteria have now been revised for all categories to allow wider participation in the remaining counselling rounds.

Category-wise Revised Cut-off

Under the revised criteria:

  • Candidates belonging to the General and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories are now required to secure a 7 percentile, reduced from the earlier threshold of 50 percentile. The revised cut-off score for this category is 103.
  • For candidates under the General Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) category, the qualifying percentile has been fixed at 5, with a cut-off score of 90.
  • Candidates from the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories, including PwBD candidates, have been assigned a qualifying percentile of 0, corresponding to a cut-off score of - 40.

Merit List Remains Unchanged

Officials clarified that the revision does not affect the NEET PG 2025 merit list. Candidates’ ranks and scores remain unchanged, and the revised cut-off applies only to determine eligibility for counselling.

Moreover, with the reduced cut-off, a larger number of candidates are expected to become eligible for the third round of counselling. However, seat allotment will continue to be based on merit rank, choice preferences, reservation norms, and seat availability.

The counselling process for NEET PG 2025–26 will continue as per the schedule issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and respective state authorities.
