NTA Latest Guidelines for NEET UG 2024

The National Testing Agency stands as the preeminent institution entrusted with the task of ensuring the impartial and smooth administration of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG. spanning numerous centers both within the nation and abroad. 

The NEET exam is scheduled to be conducted on 5th May 2024. In preparation, the NTA has unveiled the latest set of guidelines governing the NEET 2024 examination, available for perusal on its website. The NTA has meticulously outlined the new regulations encompassing various aspects of the NEET exam experience, ranging from prescribed dress codes to the list of prohibited items. 

All candidates are required to make themselves acquainted with and strictly adhere to these guidelines. 

NEET UG 2024- New Rules for Dress Codes 

  1. Candidates must wear light clothes with half sleeves. Medical Aspirants with long-sleeved attire will not be permitted. 
  2. Candidates shall not wear closed footwear such as shoes, sneakers, stilettoes, etc. Candidates are advised to wear open footwear such as slippers, and sandals with low heels are allowed. 
  3. Students are further required to avoid wearing dark-colored dresses. 
  4. Any candidate, under any circumstances, is not able to strictly adhere to the specified dress code, they must seek prior approval from the NTA before the issuance of NEET 2024 admit cards. 

Dress Code- Rules for Customary Dress 

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has allowed candidates to wear customary or cultural dresses, provided they declare the same during the NEET UG 2024 application process. In addition, candidates opting for cultural or customary dress are required to arrive at least one to two hours before the examination center before the final reporting time, i.e., 12:30 pm. 

NEET UG 2024- List of Prohibited Items

The National Testing Agency is responsible for the fair conduct of the NEET examination. To avoid any unfair practices, NTA has barred various items in the examination hall. Candidates are not permitted to carry the following items inside the examination hall: 

  • Any items such as bits of paper (printed or written) 
  • Any communication device like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager, Health Band, etc.
  • Other items like Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap, etc. 
  • Any Watch/Wristwatch, Bracelet, Camera, etc.
  • Any ornaments/metallic items.
  • Any food items opened or packed, water bottles, etc. 
  • Any other item that could be used for unfair means, by hiding communication devices
  • like a microchip, camera, Bluetooth device, etc.

Guidelines to be followed by Candidates in the Examination Hall 

Candidates kindly note that the examination center will be opened two hours before the commencement of the NEET exam. The last reporting time to the examination center is 1:30 PM, no candidates shall be allowed to enter the examination hall after the designated time.

Note: Candidates are required to produce their Admit Card upon request at the Examination Hall. Further, candidates must take their assigned seats before the start of the examination. 

Candidates shall carry the following documents: 

  • A printed copy of the Admit Card, downloaded from the NTA website, must include a passport-size photograph (matching the one uploaded on the Application form) affixed to it.
     
  • One passport-size photograph, identical to the one uploaded on the Online Application Form, must be affixed to the designated space on the Attendance Sheet at the Centre during the NEET (UG) - 2024 Examination.
     
  • A color photograph with dimensions of one postcard size (4” X 6”) and a white background should be affixed to the Proforma downloaded with the Admit Card. This Proforma, along with the postcard-size photograph, must be submitted to the Invigilator in the Examination Hall.
     
  • Any one of the authorized photo IDs which must be original and valid and like a PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID/Passport/Aadhaar Card /Ration Card/ Class 12 Admit Card with Photograph /any other valid photo ID issued by the Government.
     
  • PwBD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming the relaxation under the PwBD category.
     

NEET UG- Admit Card 

Students can download their admit card from the NTA official website and get it printed. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without an admit card. Candidates must adhere to their allotted Date and Timing as specified on their Admit Card for entry into the Examination Centre. Any deviation from this schedule will not be permitted. 

Candidates are further requested to read the instructions given on the admit card carefully. 

Unfair Means and Practices 

  • Possessing items such as stationary, communication devices, accessories, food, ornaments, or any materials, whether relevant or irrelevant to the exam. 
  • Impersonation or aiding in the preparation of materials for copying. 
  • Violating examination rules or directives set forth by the NTA. 
  • Directly or indirectly aiding other candidates in malpractices. 
  • Communicating with anyone other than the examination staff during the exam. 
  • Taking away the answer sheet from the examination room. 
  • Stealing or attempting to steal question papers or answer sheets.
  • Threatening exam officials or candidates.
  • Using unauthorized methods or means during the exam.
  • Manipulating or fabricating online documents such as admit cards or rank letters.
  • Forcibly entering or exiting the examination center/hall.
  • Using electronic devices after entering the examination center.
  • Uploading incorrect or manipulated photographs on application forms/admit cards.
  • Erasing or obliterating information on the OMR Answer Sheet.
  • Providing incorrect information on the OMR Answer Sheet.
  • Tampering with OMR sheets or making false claims before or after result declaration.
  • Disrupting the smooth and fair conduct of the examination.
  • Engaging in any other malpractices deemed unfair by the NTA.

If any candidate is found indulging in any kind of unfair means and practices will be debarred from the examination for 3 years in the future and shall be liable for criminal actions or any other action as deemed fit. Moreover, the result of such a candidate would be canceled by the NTA.
