The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially released the schedule for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2025 session. The much-awaited FMGE 2026 exam will take place on January 17, 2026, in a computer-based format across multiple test centres in India.
This announcement marks the beginning of a crucial phase for thousands of Indian medical students who have completed their MBBS degrees abroad and are now preparing to qualify for medical practice in India.

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is a compulsory screening examination administered by NBEMS for Indian citizens and OCIs with a medical qualification in a foreign university. To register with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Councils, candidates have to pass FMGE to be legally practising in India.
Thousands of Indian graduates in countries such as Russia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, the Philippines, and Ukraine attend the FMGE every year, hoping to start their medical careers in their native countries.
